He collected these autographs mostly by writing letters--a lot of them written in 1928.
My grandfather was a librarian, active in the LaCrosse Historical Society and was the world's greatest jazz fan. Duke Ellington was his favorite. I'm sure the Duke's autograph was his prize possesion, even though not the highest valued autograph monetarily.
I've done what I could now and then to add to the collection, but my autographs pale in comparison. I was able to get autographs from Al Joyner (gold medal triple jump '84 Olympics), Daniel J. Travanti (Hill Street Blues), and big band leaders Louie Bellson, Buddy Rich (both drummers) and Doc Severinsen (my favorite--not for sale!).
In addition to selling the autographs I hope to possibly get some web design business from autograph dealers. Most of the autograph sites I've seen are pretty bad (to put it nicely). But I also hope that people who like historical autographs will get a little enjoyment seeing scans of the autographs of some of the great people from the last century.
Thanks for visiting.
